Title: The Healing Properties of Booze and Friends
Characters: Auggie, Jensen and Cougar

Summary: Auggie’s just had a couple of shit days and he needs a break.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None really, mention of alcohol
Spoilers Episode aired 8-24 of Covert Affairs (sorry can’t remember the title)
Disclaimer: No one recognizable belongs to me. I’ll take Auggie if he wants to be taken.
Author's Note: So I felt really bad for Auggie after tonight’s episode. And I could not get it out of my head that he did not need what he actually got at the end of the episode. This is my fix-it. Agrees with the episode, except for the very last scene with Auggie. I’ll most likely be writing another one because I had two fix-it ideas. Special thanks to kaitlia777  who helped me with the title, the AIM names, the Klingon, and gave me this idea of Jensen talking to Auggie. And if anyone wants to write me a buddy hacker fic with Auggie and Jensen…please? *bugging eyes*


Auggie sighed as he heard the office quiet down for the night. Another few minutes and he’d be able to log onto AIM through a backdoor he’d created a couple of months ago. After everything that went down with Natasha and the train and just…everything…he needed to not go home to his empty apartment or Liza tonight. Even if he just killed a few hours chatting with friends on-line, it was better than going home.

He waved over his shoulder as a few scattered good-byes were sent his way and tapped his fingers silently; waiting until he was pretty sure the office was mostly empty. Tugging his earphones up around his ears, he snugged them into place so he had privately for his chat. A few quick key strokes opened his backdoor and he signed onto AIM, scrolling through his contacts to see who was around. He smiled as his computer announced the presence of DarthHacker. Opening a window, he typed, Are you breaking any laws I should report you for today?

DarthHacker: Depends. What do you consider a law?
NextMcQueen: What country are you in?
DarthHacker: I plead the fifth.

Auggie considered for a moment before sending his next comment, knowing what Jensen’s message meant.

NextMcQueen: Any chance you’re somewhere close enough to meet me tonight?
DarthHacker: How bad?
NextMcQueen: On a scale of one to ten…a seven.
DarthHacker: Want us to pick you up?
NextMcQueen: No. I don’t want you anywhere near my home. I’ll meet you at the usual place?
DarthHacker: I’ll be the one with the zombie hunter.

Quickly logging out, Auggie gathered up what he absolutely had to remove and walked out of the office. No one tried to stop him or questioned why he was leaving so late for which he was grateful. He ignored his normal turn that would take him to the motor pool and his chauffeured ride home and slipped up close to one of the newer hires. A little harmless flirting and he had secured a ride close enough to downtown that he could find a cab. She seemed to sense his lack of interest in talking and turned the radio on once they were in her car. Once they reached downtown, she tried to insist on dropping him elsewhere and he finally allowed her to persuade him to allow her to take him to Deep Cover the bar he and Jensen normally met at. The name had struck them as hysterical the first time they had found it and now they used it whenever they needed to meet without other people knowing. He wasn’t really concerned about the new girl figuring this out because even if she saw him meeting Jensen; there were a million explanations.

“This place looks like a dive,” she said. “Are you sure it’s the right place?”

“Yup,” he answered, already unbuckling and attempting to untangle himself from the belt. He bit back a swear word as his hand got caught again. A soft hand touched his, making him jump and then he was free and he couldn’t leave fast enough. He leaned down just before shutting the door. “Thanks for the ride.”

Entering the bar, Auggie was hit with a wave of sound (which was one of the things that had attracted them to it a long time ago—that and the booths that hid them from sight but allowed them to see all comers if you picked the right one) and he paused just to the right of the door. He knew Jensen would have beaten him there and would be looking for him. Sure enough a hand brushed against his arm within moments and a familiar voice said, “nuqneH.”

Auggie hadn’t thought he’d have much to smile about tonight, until he got some booze into him, but that actually brought a genuine grin to his face. “nuqneH, Jay,” he returned, turning towards the sound of his voice. He was quickly enveloped in a strong hug. Jensen had never shied from physical contact and he gripped his friend tightly.

“Come on,” Jensen said when he finally pulled back. “We’ve got a booth staked out. And shots already waiting.”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Auggie warned as he rested his hand on the other man’s shoulder and allowed him to guide him through the bar, trusting his guidance.

“So don’t talk,” and the shrug was clear in his voice. “Drink. And we’ll pour you into the second bed in our room later. Not like we’re using it. Say hey, Cougs. Lookie who I found.”

Auggie murmured a greeting to the sniper as he slid into the seat. Maybe this wasn’t the best way to treat the end of his day, but a dose of Jensen was just what he needed.

Auggie is the blind tech/hacker on Covert Affairs played by Christopher Gorham. He's a brunette version of Jensen in other words (who happens to be blind). He's also got way more game than Jensen. Dude I think he got the girl 3 times in last night's episode! And I mean that literally.

Thank you for the "adorable" comment. (The boys drank themselves silly btw and then poor Cougar had to deal with them singing Journey and other things he refuses to mention.)

I just got told I have to go work. Hopefully I'll get a chance to email you in depth tonight. How's your bang coming? Kaitlia finished hers last night and I haven't even stared mine...I told her I'd do a quick and dirty beta on hers.

Both setos_puppy and I have started watching Covert Affairs because of this fic. So, thanks for getting us into new fandoms. Though I must say, I'm only watching the show for Auggie, because Annie-I'm-so-special-I-poop-Rainbows-Walker bugs the everliving SHIT out of me.

ANYWAY.

Haaaa, setos_puppy lost a bet to me and now has to write me fic. It's a crossover because we both agreed that it would be the hottest thing ever. Jensen/Auggie.

I totally watch the show for Auggie. He makes the show. And if you watched Heroes--Jay was Mohinder. Annie was the lead on Coyote Ugly so I can deal with her--it seems to be her character trait to be annoying as crap.


Oooo lemme know when it's done since I don't have Setos as a friend or on the alerts list (although she normally posts to Losers fic so I should see it).

I swear I'm getting up this morning...I haven't made it outta bed yet, just rolled over and picked Morrigan up (my laptop) and started checking mail and talking to a friend. Yeah...this is why she (the lappie) normally stays on the other side of the room so I have to get out of bed to go to her.

Yeah...I loved the episode. Absolutely my FAVORITE episode of the season from the shirtlessness, to the geekiness, to the lack of Annie and Jai, but the whole end of Natasha leaving him (while I get why she did it, I felt absolutely horrible for him because he was so happy to have her back) and then the end when he walked into his apartment and Liza walked up behind him and put her hand on his shoulder. He just looked so broken and resigned and just...so yes he was going to brood.

*giggles* Legless!Pooch! I love that movie! I'll admit I've watched it a few times though.

I've posted a second fix it fic for this episode, because I had to ideas for how it should have ended :-)
