I didn't get these posted yet this month just because life has been crazy, but I'm feeling pretty good about this month. Have a good one!

September Wrap Up

Writing

–Prep book bibles for Blood Oath, Masquerade, and Bingo
I sort of did these? I printed everything up and I put them in the binders, but I still need to actually create the content. Next month I’ll be working on Blood Oath and another story, competing in OctoPrep on Writing.com

–Post weekly on Vocal (article or story)
I more than completed this. I posted every Monday and also submitted to a couple of challenges. Decided to not wait to post those.

–Read at least one thing daily on Vocal
I didn’t read every day, but I had some spurts where I read a whole bunch of stories or poems. I’d like to keep this up because between my reading and my social media presence, I now have 14 subscribers on Vocal!

Life

–D&D at least twice (there are 4 weekends in September, I’d really like to make 3 of the 4)
I managed all 3 of the weekends I had available. There was no way I could make the one weekend I missed because that was my birthday and we went out to Medieval Times for my birthday.

–Donations to Valley Missions
I got them out almost the same weekend I made the decision. I’m sure there will be a lot more that I want to donate, but I haven’t had time to go through everything.

–Finish removing the mounting hardware for the TV
I honestly forgot about this goal. I will probably work on it in November.

–Create and stick to a cleaning schedule (bathroom, floors, dishes, etc)
I got a schedule written up for the bathroom and completed the first three weeks, but didn’t do the floors. I’m going to have to adjust next month because I won’t be home most weekends.

Work

–Finish theme for Robotics
We know what we’re doing, but need to make the final decisions.

–Finish at least three bookcases of inventory/weeding (not counting the half done one)
Not only did I finish the half-done shelf, I completed half the fiction. I inventoried, weeded, and shuffled the books into dynamic shelving. I’m super excited about how it looks and the kids are checking out books they’ve never seen before!

–Complete lessons, books, and slideshows for October (if not more) I didn’t finish this. I know what I’m going to do, I have the books scanned, but I haven’t finished the slideshows or lessons.

–Make a plan for the book fair (also ask about Financial Literacy Night) I mainly have a plan and I’ve made arrangements for the fair to be open on Financial Literacy Night.

October Goals

Writing

–Octoprep Love at the Boo-kshelves (Under Medie)

–Octoprep Blood Oath (Under Shanachie)

–Finish October challenges on Vocal

–Sonnet of Shadows (post) due 10/3

–A Knock at the Door due 10/8

–Lantern Light due 10/17

–Parallel Lives due 10/22

–Haunted Echoes (post) due 10/24

–Poetry of the Hunt due 10/31

–Through the Keyhole due 11/5

–Attempt Spook Me (due 10/26)

Life

I stupidly booked myself for every weekend this month, plus I have doctor appointments and Mom’s birthday, so I’m not making any life goals.

Vacation plans:

–Savannah Bananas in Savannah (10/4)

–Nashville for Gaelic Storm (10/10-10/13)

–All Star Game in Auburn (10/25)

Doctor Appointments

–Dentist (10/1)

–Mamogram (aka boob squish) (10/6)

–MRI (10/10)

–Sleep Study (10/17)

–Dermatologist (10/20)

Work

–Finish October lessons

–Prep orders (Demco, Fiction and Graphic Novels, Non-fiction) Do we need anything else?

–Work more on Inventory with weeding and dynamic shelving

–Process green cart of books

I absolutely need to work on balancing things more, but I also took a shift on what I had been planning in a few cases. I’ve made some changes, some alterations and hopefully my goals will be accomplished as I move forward.

A friend, [personal profile] badfalcon , mentioned making goals for writing and life each month when she did her goal wrap up for July. I love goals (my ADHD does so love goals) so I decided I would go ahead and make goals for this month.

Writing

--Write two chapters for Blood Oath

--Draft up characters for Bingo cards

--Write minimum one website article

--Write 215 words a day

Life

--D&D at least twice

--Finish a sewing project and start another

--Clean a section of the office

Work

--Finish up computers

--Get Reading Bowl and Makerspace Club set up

--Prep the second set of books and plans

I didn’t want to get too crazy this month, but having three goals for each makes me feel like I can accomplish everything. (Yes, I know there are four goals for Writing, but the word count is just part of doing my writing.)

Let me know if you’re doing goals or have plans! Let’s cheer each other on.

(And I know I haven’t posted on here in quite a while, but now I’ll probably be posting at least once a month as I do goals and report each month.)

I've decided this year to participate in [community profile] fandomgiftbasket since two of my friends are also doing it. At the moment I'm only planning to create fills for the two of them, but if anyone else is doing it and wants me to look, please let me know.

Here's my requests! Have a good day.

Hey, all. 2023 is swiftly approaching and I’m working on making some changes with my writing.

I will be rebranding all of my icons, graphics, etc, but haven’t quite chosen my format yet. I might put some of the decisions up for vote, but haven’t decided.

At the moment, I’m planning on posting blog entries every other month on my Patreon. In addition, I’m going to post a short story (500 to 1,000 words) based on a prompt I decide on every month. The short stories will be under one of the higher tiers on Patreon, while the blog entries will be at the lower tiers. Some of the blog entries will be public, but I haven’t decided what ones yet.

Beginning in June, I will start publishing a serialized story in addition to the short stories. That will hopefully give me some time to get a bit more of it written. At this time, I don’t know how long it will be, but it will be a complete novel by the end. I will offer publishing on demand when it is finished if readers are interested in a hard copy.

In September, I plan to publish my first novel. At the moment, it is plotted and planned, I just need to write it. Sometime around July or August, I will do a cover reveal, first on Patreon and later more publicly. As the months lead up to September, I’ll share information and teasers on Patreon and Facebook.

Finally, I’ve started a Discord server for female writers. This will give us a place to collaborate and work with stories and ideas in a safe space. At the moment, I am limiting it to no more than ten women. Please let me know if you’d like an invite. (You do not have to be a published writer to request an invite.)

I just used an app called ljArchive and saved ALL of my journals. No comments, but at least the entries are saved.

Hello to everyone who followed me over here from LJ. Hopefully a few more will follow soon. I'm still there, but I'm not posting. And I'm working out how to download/copy my journal over there--I actually have two although I haven't touched the one in about 15 years. I'll get caught up on my reading list and be around.
shanachie_quill: christmas leonard (Default)
Hey y'all, I need some betas for some Christmas presents. All of them are short, I don't think any of them are longer than 1K, and I just need someone to do a run through. I've starred the ones that are finished so if you want a word count, I can give those.

These are the fandoms:
1. SPN (wee!chesters)**
2. Prodigal Son**
3. Killjoys
4. Julie & the Phantoms
5. Haven
6. Chicago Fire**
7. H50/Suits
8. 4 original stories (1**)

Thanks for even considering it. All of my usual betas are giftees so I can't ask them.

Fic Help

Has anyone watched Julie and the Phantoms? Are you well versed enough for me to bounce some ideas for a fic? I'm doing it as a present for the one person I know watches it. I'm working on it now so letting me know soon would be helpful.
shanachie_quill: christmas leonard (Default)
ish. I don't have time or energy to write full stories so I'm offering up some drabbles-ish for the holiday season. I have 5 people I'd like to write for (and have heard back from two of them) so the first 5 people that send me a fandom and a character or pairing will get what I can figure out.

Please try to keep it to fandoms I know. I'm willing to try a fandom I haven't written before, but I don't have time to watch a new show.

I thought I would keep a list of the books I'm reading and the movies/tv shows I'm watching during this time. I haven't read as much as I was hoping, but I'm getting somewhere.

I've read a bunch of fanfic for one. If anyone is interested in what I've read... I don't know what to tell ya since I haven't been keeping track. And here you go... I managed to start keeping track: Fanfic Recs

All right, some links of what I’ve been reading and enjoyed. It’s almost ALL 911 and Buck/Eddie at this point because that’s what I’ve mostly been reading. Please read tags, etc because most of them I didn’t mark and I do read smut so if that’s not your cup of tea (or coffee or cocoa), please do not read. I’ll come back and add more, but I’ll update the date, etc when I do. I've marked the WIPs.

I decided to rent Mindgamers today because I wanted to see Oliver Stark in it.

I'm still watching it... (It's a mind trip all right).

But low and behold... guess who's also in it? Tom Payne.

So 911 meets Prodigal Son??

Anyone speak decent Spanish and is willing/able to check my translations once I'm done with my story?

Alternatively, anyone want to beta a 9*1*1* fic? I'm not sure how long it's going to be...

snagged from [personal profile] evil_little_dog

She remembers penny cards... I think mine were a quarter. And just this week, a co-worker talked about decorating a box with her son.

Well...I can't actually give you any penny Valentine cards but I might be able to do something else you'd appreciate.

If you want to participate, leave me a comment with some sort of prompt (please do not leave me a fandom as I may not know it) and I will in turn post something for you. It could be a little ficlet or picspam or something I think you would enjoy!

As I will be writing a paper from Sunday to Friday, it is possible my stories will be delayed.

And if you want to do this in your space, feel free!

So my writing was sadly lacking this year, BUT I also completed my Gifted Classwork. In addition, I traveled to Utah for a fantastic conference (met Laurell K. Hamilton and Jim Butcher among other fantastic authors and people), acquired 3 more people in my house, had a shed taken down, and worked on an application to grad school (and got accepted!) So although my writing was slacking… my life was swamped!

So that’s all of it… like I said a very brief writing year.
