All the Clints

shanachie_quillSo someone, I can no longer recall who, asked me a couple of weeks ago, to list all of my Clints. And I just…never got around to it. Partially I think because they were wondering how many I had and how I kept them all straight. So I figured I would share them here. And give y’all a few notes to go with them. I believe I’ve posted stories for all but the last one. So what follows is all my Clints and some notes about each of them.
THERE ARE SPOILERS BELOW. Some of the things have been revealed in stories; some are just headcanon things that I know. I’m being vague in most of these. I might add more later. If you have questions, let me know and I’ll see if I can answer them.
1. canon!Clint
This is the ‘normal’ Clint, as much as Clint can be normal. The one who was raised by foster care after his parents were killed, ran away to join the circus, became a petty and not so petty criminal, and was recruited by SHIELD from jail. It tends more towards movie canon than comic canon, but it tries to stick close to canon.

2. puppy!Clint
The Clint in this story is semi-close to canon. Unlike the canon though, he hides a secret from most of SHIELD. He is able to shift into an alternate form. Normally his form would grow with him as he grew, but due to an unforeseen complication; his alternate form is a puppy.
He’s at New Mexico when Thor comes and remains there to protect Jane and Darcy. Darcy inadvertently discovers his secret and the two become fast friends. She agrees to keep his secret and even helps protect him at times. It also gives him a safe place to be himself so he doesn’t have to worry about shifting in front of people that don’t know. Together they’re able to form a workable relationship that benefits both them and SHIELD.

3. Clint/Darcy
Clint is not subtle. That really is this Clint. He and Darcy each like the other person, but neither of them is willing to admit it or even talk to the other person. Darcy starts wooing Clint as he starts unsubtly wooing her. His background isn’t as important, but for the most part, he goes with movie canon.
(At the moment I’m not writing anymore for this one.)

4. Clint/Tasha with Ariana (Assassin Baby verse)
Clint rescued Natasha from a life of death and destruction. He brought her into the fold of SHIELD after being given a kill order on her and slowly over the years gained her trust and then something else. She wouldn’t call it love because Natasha doesn’t believe in love, but Clint was happy to tell her that he loved her. In her own way, she felt the same way and they became almost unstoppable together and apart.
When she got pregnant, Clint was sure she was going to bolt, but it only drew them closer together. After his daughter’s birth (and more than one row over her name), Clint’s focus changes. There is nothing he loves more in his life than his girls and his bow. He understands he works for SHIELD, but if they threaten his girls, he will not hesitate to take them and run. The Avengers’ Initiative also changes things for him because there he truly finds a family.
This Clint follows the canon of loss of his family at a young age, time at the orphanage, and running away to the circus. He had been convinced to join his brother, Barney, and some of their friends in some petty crime and was almost caught but decided he didn’t want to spend his life as a petty criminal. So he enlisted in the military, deciding he had skills they could use. Not long after he was recruited by SHIELD.

5. Clint/Tessa (Assistants’ verse)
Like the other Avengers, Clint had an Assistant assigned to him. Although he was resistant at first, he soon came to trust Tessa Monroe. Over time their relationship blossomed into more and the two eventually became lovers.
The idea of the Assistants was to pair each Avenger with someone compatible or complementary to them who could ‘assist’ them with anything they needed and with helping them acclimate to the world at large. With Clint, who needed someone as a companion more than anything, Tessa is a friend and a helper. She is also a confidant, a trainer, and at times a babysitter.
This Clint is less canon related then the others. Although he has the same background of the loss of his parents, foster care, and joining the circus; he never followed his brother into a life of crime. Instead he lied about his age and joined the military at sixteen. In the military, he joined black ops and became a master sniper. Because of his attitude and tendency to mouth off to superiors, he never rises above the rank of specialist. In time he’s recruited by SHIELD and his skills are put to use by them.

6. wee!Clint
After Clint is de-aged (although the Avengers have no clue how or why), the Avengers decide they are going to keep the young boy. Although he has no memory of his adult life, the boy shows flashes of the man he used to be. They are determined that he will not suffer the same way he did through his first childhood.
He is untrusting of men for the most part, although he seems to trust Steve and Coulson almost from the first, and much more easily trusts women. While the Avengers know some of his background (and Coulson knows more), they don’t know all of it. Clint suffers from nightmares and although he can’t tell anyone about them; all of the Avengers believe it’s from when he was an adult.
They all hope to one day find a way to make their friend the adult he once was…and that he’ll remember his second childhood when they do. But for now, they intend to enjoy the child they’ve been entrusted with.

Billed as the World’s Greatest Marksman, Clint seems to have it all. He has the freedom to move with the circus, traveling and seeing the world. But it’s not all fun and games. There are things that happened to him that have shaped him into something other than the carefree teenager he had been. He’s snarky, moody, talented, and unbelievably egotistical.
And at the moment that’s about all I’ve got from him…this is my only Clint that’s a teenager…so you have to take that into consideration when attempting to get information from him.
