Press Conference aka Clint's Shenanigans
“I just need the two of you to stand in the background and look intimidating,” Coulson said as they moved swiftly down the hall.
“Cause that’ll end well, sir,” Barton replied, glaring at the junior agent who tried to flag Coulson down. “I mean. Undercover work?”
“No one is supposed to notice you. In fact, the point is for you not to get noticed, Barton,” Coulson replied. “All you have to do is stand there and do not open your mouth.”
“But,” Clint started.
“Not a word!” Coulson replied.
Clint opened his mouth to retort, but Coulson glared at him before he could say anything. “No.”
The archer’s mouth snapped shut with an almost audible sound as Natasha smirked at him, clearly amused that he was getting in trouble with their handler. They easily dodged the agents that tried to separate their triad, falling back into step with Coulson. “I…” Clint tried to start again.
“I said ‘Not a word’, Barton!” Coulson snapped before he got more than that word out.
Natasha dropped back, stepped on Clint’s foot, and fell back in step with Coulson without losing pace at all. The archer turned the glare he’d been giving Coulson’s back on her. Coulson didn’t look up from the brief he’d been reading to comment, “I can’t take you two anywhere, can I? Play nice, children.”
“Well, if you want us to play nice,” Clint replied. “We could always take care of someone for you, sir.”
“What did I say about talking, Barton?” Coulson asked in that long suffering voice he got when Clint had yanked his chain just a little too much.
“Yes, sir. Sorry, sir.”
This time Natasha smacked him in the back of the head and Clint turned a wounded look on her because even her love taps tended to make his ears ring. “Really, Barton. Shut. Up.”
Coulson indicated the back wall of the room. “I know it’s asking a lot, but stand against that wall and try not to cause an international incident on accident.”
Clint smirked as he went to do as directed. “I only cause incidents on purpose, sir.”
No one belongs to me, not making any money.
