All righty…so [livejournal.com profile] irishjeeper  asked me to do this or well I should say she offered me a bribe (that I’m not accepting darlin’!) , sooo essentially. I watch the episode and I make comments, relate quotes, and blather on about it. I’ve already seen this a couple of times so keep that in mind as you read this.

THIS WILL MAKE NO SENSE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE EPISODE.

Okay…here goes…er well…here goes if I remember to load the video.

Okay that works better.

*giggles* Pumpkin. Dude I thought he was talking to his daughter the first time.

He-li-copter!

Eliot on a snowmobile! Yay!! Oh yeah Chris had fun with that I’m sure.

He climbed in the service? Yeah it took me THREE watches to figure that out.

Nice leather Nate.

Okay…anyone remember what Cameron Daddo was in? *pause to go to IMDB* because it drove me nuts all of last night, but I missed the name both times (I’m pretty sure that’s who the bad guy is). Oh holy f’ing hell! It’s Rollie! Okay sorry…major pause for a fangirl moment…the bad guy? Played Rollie on one of my favorite syndicated series back in the ‘90s which probably no one remembers but anyway…okay I’m done now and back to Leverage (PS the series was F/X the series and was about a special effects guy…anyway…also sidebar…I need to go watch the new Captain America trailer when I’m done with this.)

The wife just…I didn’t buy her as a climber. I do like the use of the iPads now. But nice product placement. *giggles*

Of course there’s something on him.

Hahaha poor Eliot. “It’s not what I expected.” Now I want to know what he expected.

Oh Hardison. “One of my nipples fell off.” And his hat! I am in love with his hat!

Randomly this cracked me up through-out the episode—no one blinks an eye at the five of them just wandering around talking to themselves and butting in on things. Fun train!

“I can climb a skyscraper. I can walk up a mountain.”
“It’s not the same. Are there avalanches on a skyscraper?”
“No. That would be so cool.”
Oh Parker.

“Ridiculously dangerous! It’s like a danger cupcake with murder icing!”

How much do I love Aldis? He just…oh man the way he enunciates specific words and then just gets in everyone’s face. It’s awesome.

Really? Why are the electronics working? I know the tent is warmer, but they should be at least glitching.

It’s a race? Um, okay. Nate just wants to make things more difficult.

I love their version of “the van” in this one. The tent is cute.

“So we’re unofficial?”
“Very.”

“Nate. I’m at a party full of drunk millionaires, far from home who are dizzy from lack of oxygen, this is like grifter Christmas in here.”

“Okay people, let’s go steal a mountain.”
“Again.”
“What?”
“We already stole a mountain like two years ago.”
“Well, technically it was a mountain resort, but yeah.”

“You’re very good at what you do, but you can’t con a mountain.”

Hahaha the flashbacks to Parker and Hardison and Hardison “repelling”. I love Hardison trying to say good-bye to Parker. And Eliot walking up and hugging him. That was adorable…then Hardison standing there with his arms out. I laughed sooo hard.

Oh no. That is not going to end well. Hi, wifey.

Hee! I saw pictures of Eliot and Parker in the snow, preview pix. But well…no snow storm.

“You’re emotionally involved it leads to bad decisions.”
“I’m sorry did you just say that? With a straight face?”
“Not helpful. Not helpful at all.”

*pause to go get something to drink*

Okay refueled and ready to go :-)

The wife being here is not going to end well.

Oh I missed Nate putting a Comm in her ear last night.

Good I’m glad to hear/see they’re looking at the tech and realizing it might not work…they’ve got to bring the notebook down.

I gotta say…I love watching Sophie do her thing here. *giggles* And the German. The German gets me every time. At least Gina can pronounce it. So often I find myself cringing when people say things in German. But Gina has a lovely accent.

Dude that guy is NOT Japanese.

Hahaha “Veeery serious about finding out what’s inside my sweater anyways.”

Good Nate you’re hydrating the right way.

Love Hardison bringing up the random numbers. Oh Nate…what are you doing?

Oh Sophie…I luv you! “Oh, Mina you type it for me, I’m too drunk to touch the little buttons.”

“She’s kinda scary.”
“You have no idea.”
Regretting something there, Nate.

Hee hee Parker peeking into the tent. So cute. She looks almost disappointed at it.
I love Parker doing the “Seriously”!

“It’s a very distinctive footprint.”

There was a slight accent slip on Cameron there…he’s actually Australian…I’m not sure if the character is supposed to be Australian or not, but the accent yeah…he slipped. I know he said “bloody” when he first walked in…but they never said if the character was or not.

Uh-oh…wifey took off with the beacon. And now Nate is going after her. Cuz that’s going to end well.

“He’s gonna die.”

And Hardison and Sophie are left alone. Dun dun dun

Oh Sophie putting things together. And changing her “look”. And giving Hardison orders. I love it. And now she’s changing the con. Not sure that’s a good idea when they’re kinda trapped.

Boom. Nate go bye-bye. Like I said cuz this is gonna end well. /sarcasm

Did anyone else think they were gonna fall before they did?

Crack. Crack. BOOM!

Poor Hardison…his tech is failing him. I am proud of him for not going after them. Although I kinda wonder why he didn’t send the rangers or search and rescue out. That would kinda be the smart reaction.

Yay wifey! Good for her! On saving Nate, not on what she did trying to keep going. Nate, you need to take your own advice. Cause you’re letting the anger take control. Hel-lo? Do you hear yourself? Dumbass.

“Eventually you run into something that your anger can’t beat.”
“Like a mountain?”

*giggles*
Parker flashing the light at Eliot to wake him up and then the grin. Oh Parker. I luv you. Just yeah. And “stop it.”

And then pushing him forward to check the body. Yeah I knew it was the body before they uncovered it…but um…too many creepy movies. I kept expecting it to jump up and say “I’m alive!” Yeah. I’m a tad bit creepy.

I like that Parker kept insisting they take the body.

Haha poor Hardison, his tech is failing him. He’s keeping it together pretty well though.

Seriously…that guy is NOT Japanese. *head desk*

And Sophie playing everyone. One of these days she’s going to “play” the wrong person. Especially when she’s trapped somewhere.

I sorta get why she doesn’t want to leave Alan behind…but her insistence gets a little…forceful even for Parker.

Oh Sophie…you really are creepy at times.

Hahaha “Well then do it quickly”

Parker and Eliot working together. Kinda awesome. Oh I am really glad that Parker didn’t get very far before that rope snapped. And him throwing it up is rather awesome. The prefect toss. I kinda wanna know how many takes it actually took.

Okay so is she more upset about not being able to take him? Or not doing the right thing?

Wow they are just off the cuffing all over the place…Nate bluffing is not the best thing.

I love Eliot being all reassuring here. And Parker asking if it makes them bad. Aw it makes “us us”. Bonding FTW. I wanna just hug them.

Hardison is so HAPPY!

“Talking. Uses. Oxygen.” LOL

“Tomahto. Tomayto” Oh Sophie.

And Nate. Punched in the face. Nice sucker punch.

Dayam Rollie is a bastard. And I know it’s not really Rollie, but well I keep forgetting that he’s Drexal here. Sorry.

I totally wanted
A) the Russian to be in the tent
B) Eliot to fight the guy in the snow but alas it’s not practical
Really? In the snow? How the hell did he even move?
Also the flare thing was kinda…I dunno…I’d think you’d burn your hand off.

*snorts* Dmitri so cliché. Aren’t all Russians Dmitri?

So…does Hardison not know about the switch? Since he’s so worried about notebook.

Yay for the techy! I love the use of the dying man’s words to get the drop on him.

Nice slip there, Parker. Although…if you look closely, you can kinda see it from the back on the original play. And I love that as the “ride” instead of taking Parker and Eliot.

“Dying declaration, admissible in court.” You would know, Nate.

*giggles* I love that the rangers have guns. Do rangers normally have guns? I honestly have no idea.

Dude, I have missed Eliot taking off his hat…every. Single. Time. Damn it! *pauses, reverses, stares at the screen* :-) Yay, I got to see it!

“Alan Scott is getting back at the man that killed him.” Awesome! Score one for the dead guy!

This is kinda…I don’t know. It is sad. “I love you.” Aww he’s always with her. Okay, not crying. Nope not me. But it did touch me. I will admit that. They played that nicely.

And aaaww Eliot has a heart.

Aaaww Parker and Hardison *smish* I love those two. Those two are my canon couple.

Hahahah “You realize this is not gonna be normal right?”

“I should meet your Nana.” Yes! Yes I want that!

Is Eliot’s hair shorter? It doesn’t quite reach his shoulder.

Okay really…can we kill this Nate/Sophie thing? Kill it dead? Cuz that was not awkward at all.

Damn it! What is her NAME?!

Hardison futzing with the lamp totally distracted me while they were talking.

Okay now I got it.
Eliot—beer
Hardison—orange soda
Sophie—wine
Nate—wine
Parker—wine
Anyone know when Parker started drinking wine?

“When you’re that high up.”
“It’s a long way down.”

So…not as funny I don’t think…as I normally do, but it was the episode. All in all a pretty good episode and a good start to the season, but not I think one of my absolute favorites. No clue if I will do this again next week, but we shall see.

Now I’m going to post this, go eat lunch, and move on to the next thing on my list.

Great commentary! I hear you on the wanting to know Sophie's real name. I was laughing so hard at the Hardison wanting a hug from Parker, getting one from Eliot and then Nate's look and comment of "what are you doing?"

I so called the distinctive footprint. I said it out loud right before Eliot did. My dad looked and me and kind of rolled his eyes. Hey, that it's got a distinctive whatever has kind of become one of Eliot's catch phrases, that and twirling objects.

*blushes* Thank you. Normally I get a bit snarkier, but this episode didn't really call for it.

At this point, the real name thing is going to get on my nerves soon. If they start harping on it...I'm going to get annoyed.

LOL I wanted to go "Are you looking to get crucified, Hardison?" the way he was standing there with his arms out.

*flails* Oh I said it with him because I totally knew it was coming. The twirling thing...Chris and Jensen cannot remember who taught who to twirl objects, but if you watch a bunch of their movies/shows--they both do it. It's kinda amusing.

I'm hoping that they don't harp the fact about the real name to. I don't mind snark at all.

I was almost waiting for Nate to comment, "Seeing which way the wind is blowing?"

It's been a while since I've watched earlier episodes of Supernatural and my memory is a bit fuzzy but did Jensen twirl stuff there?

Thankfully they don't seem to be harping on her real name.

*grins* Then you're in the right place!

ROTFL that would have been awesome!

Yes, Jensen did. Knives mostly. I believe the Colt a couple of times. Or his 1911. It's been a while for me too. I'll have to remember to ask a friend who's watching the early seasons now.

Oh my God! Cameron Daddo and F/X! I've only seen that show in German (since nobody actually THOUGHT about internet for private households back then - at least not in Germany), but I loved it to pieces! And Christina Cox! Yay! :)

And the German. The German gets me every time. At least Gina can pronounce it. So often I find myself cringing when people say things in German.

Tell me about it. *sighs* Though, as I wrote on my LJ lately, I can see why American or English actors can’t speak correct German, but cameos or small supporting characters? I’m still livid every time I watch Leverage S1 E09, The Snow Job, and hear that stupid supposed-to-be-Austrian girl ranting about how Sophie ruined her only photo on the internet. *fumes*

I used to watch the show on a syndication channel on the weekends--like three or four episodes in a row--I LOVED it! And Christina! LOL she was on Blood Ties recently...the author who wrote the books that show was based on used to watch her on F/X and said that if Christina was a little older--she'd be perfect for Vicki...and wouldn't you know a few years later--she was!

Yeah, you'd think actors would work better on accents and all. *sighs* I know mine sucks on language--but I don't make my living that way!

I loved it, too, but it hasn't been "re-aired" over here since then. :( Can I get it on DVD or something? And yeah, Blood Ties! The show wasn't all that great (at lest to me), but I liked Vicki and I absolutely loved Henry. :) Oh, I didn't know that the author of the books based Vicki on an older Christina Cox. That's great.

Like I said, I know that the actors couldn't be forced to learn another language. Not everybody is as interested in that as I am. Or just incapable. You can teach me maths for the rest of my life and I wouldn't be able to actually apply it to anything. *laughs* I'm just not made for sciences. I guess, the same goes for languages. But when then have the opportunity to hire a... idk, somebody who only has ONE line or something... It CAN'T be that difficult to find a person, who actually KNOWS the language.

She didn't base the character on Christina, just thought the actress would be good to play the part. Yeah Henry was awesome. I adored him. I think a lot of the show got lost because a lot of the characters got lost because of the choices Tanya had to make to get the show on the air.

Ummm...it isn't on DVD that I know of F/X. Blood Ties should be. I've got both on bootleg.

So, some Park Rangers carry weapons. Mostly in high risk areas, like the back woods where you could run into dangerous critters that want your tasty flesh.

But on a basecamp at 50 000 feet, not so much.

Also, I was just reading up on it, and I discovered that in a federal park/wildlife preserve, Park Rangers can act as an officer of the law if no other officers are around.

So they can arrest people in their jurisdiction. I wasn't sure at first and was laughing at them just running into the tent and being all 'YOU'RE ALL UNDER ARREST' moments after the tape finished playing.

Yeah. And actually, in the US, Park Rangers actually have more power than other law enforcement. It's also more dangerous, because a lot of parks have huge swaths of land where contact with the outside world is tough without driving out of the area.

you do great reviews!

when Hardison had his arms out like that, I thought he was either waiting for lightning to strike (or summoning it), or doing his rendition of the crucifixion.

>Dude that guy is NOT Japanese.
maybe he learned Japanese to improve his chances at a promotion in a Japanese company?

>"a very distinctive footprint"
that gave me flashbacks to when he explained how he could tell what kind of gun was being fired based on the sound.

I didn't think they were going to fall...I thought they were going to trip over the frozen corpse.

up until they fell in that cavern, I thought the husband was hiding on teh mountain, eating berries or something to eke by.

he was a Sheriff on Eureka, I think. the superhero everyman.

well, at least Hardison didn't have a chance to say, "uh, Parker, my Nana's been dead ten years now" whether its true or not.

ps: do next week if you want to. (on the preview - was that Sterling being knocked against a tabletop?)

I'm sure that was the idea. And I loved it.

Unfortunately I knew he was dead or I was pretty sure he was.

he was a Sheriff on Eureka, I think. the superhero everyman.
The husband? Um, no. Pretty sure he's not Jack. Just cause well...no. I watch that show and no that's not Jack.

ps: do next week if you want to. (on the preview - was that Sterling being knocked against a tabletop?)
I've been trying to do every week, although I seem to have fallen behind. I need to catch up. And no it wasn't Sterling that week which I knew...but it seems like Rogers is keeping his ConCon promise to us (and Mark) and Sterling will return next week!

Oh, I love other people's thoughts about the episodes and yours is awesome, all the thoughts and comments, great. I'll be reading the next ones as well.

I had to giggle about your comment on Sophie (and others) speaking German, because she really, really has a great accent. I thought that in Then Snow Job already.

Glad you enjoyed it! I've managed to do one for each episode so far. And the first episode of Warehouse 13 if you watch that (I'll do the second episode soon).

She does have a fabulous accent. I learned my first German from a native speaker so that always catches my ear. And I wince at some of the accents on TV. The other thing that catches me is the really bad closed captioning for some of the translations. I can understand it being a bit off because nothing translates exactly--I've dealt with enough English as a Second Language speakers over the years--but when you aren't even close...it's pretty bad. Or ridiculously off.
