Apparently my muse really liked the challenges here because I did five more tonight. Posted on the comm and here also just because...

Annie/Auggie, pants
Annie stumbled to a stop upon bursting into Auggie’s office. “Whoa!” she blurted. She felt her face turn red as she put her hand up to cover her eyes. “Auggie, where are your pants?”
“Oh. I took them off.”
“I can see that. Why?”
He grinned at her reaction as he pulled her in and shut the door, closing out the glances from their overly curious DPD co-workers. “Because I’d rather be pantless than ruin my equipment.”
Annie opened her mouth, before deciding she’d rather not know which equipment he didn’t want ruined. “Where do you keep spare pants?”

Auggie, music.
Jazz
Bluegrass
Honky-tonk
Rock and roll
Before the accident it had been his background.
Now it was a way to connect and to express himself; give him an outlet. A normality that let others forget he couldn’t see. Everyone knew music; heard the same things. Even if he couldn’t see the bands, he could feel the music. Could still take a woman in his arms and glide her around the room. With their eyes closed, they were still equals.
Sometimes it let him forget for a minute that when he opened his eyes again, he still saw blackness.

Annie/Auggie, good with kids
Giggles drew Auggie’s attention and he drifted towards a familiar voice. “So this is how you spend your day off?”
“How’d you know they’re with me?”
“The cries of ‘Aunt Annie’ gave it away.”
“Katia. Chloe. My friend, Auggie.” Annie guided their hands so they touched his giving Auggie a guess at where they were.
“We were playing tag. Will you play with us?”
Auggie tapped the path with his cane. “Unfortunately I can’t. Maybe we can get ice cream?”
“That would be fine.”
“You’re good with them,” he complimented her, as the girls ran to get their things.

Auggie, the good thing about being blind
The good things about being blind?
When Natasha didn’t answer him, he couldn’t see if she didn’t look back one last time.
When he lied to Liza about the Albion group, he couldn’t see the disbelief on her face or the disgust when she caught him in the lie.
When he hit on the girls at the bar, he couldn’t see the pity in their eyes as they responded to his flirting.
When Annie and Jai playfully bantered with him standing between them, he couldn’t see them making googley eyes at each other.
Sometimes being blind sucked.

Auggie, Jai – hobbies
In another situation they might have been friends, might have found a common interest or discovered they had a hobby in general. But the CIA did not encourage friendships or hobbies or even allies. It did not encourage trust.
Still Annie drew them together, like moths to a flame, and they found themselves bonding over beer; discussing cricket and futbol and the past practices of the DPD. By mutual consent they did not discuss their families or Auggie’s Special Ops background.
Maybe they would never be friends, but one day Jai and Auggie might trust each other.
