07/31--Pet Hates

shanachie_quillYou know when I first read “Your Pet Hates…” I actually thought it was what my pet hates as in “what does your cat or dog hate”. I never said I was the brightest all the time.
So my pet hates…
A) Prejudice of any kind. Whether it is because of race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, height, whatever. There’s no reason to judge someone because they’re different from you.
B) Annoying children—for lack of a better term. I was raised to act a certain way in public and private. To speak a certain way to adults—whether they are related to me or not. If I was told I could not have something, I might protest, but I would not throw a fit (that I can remember). I can remember crying in a restaurant because I was tired or hungry but not because I was told “no” and I can also remember my moms quieting me down and reminding me that wasn’t appropriate in public.
C) People who write and don’t use a beta/editor—then say they are too lazy to find one and/or ignore suggestions from people who offer their help. OR who ask for help and then say “Well, I don’t care what you said.”
D) People who spell “y’all” ya’ll, yall, or yah’ll. Y’all is a contraction of You all, please contract it the right way.
E) I’ll even go so far as to add “to, too, and two” used incorrectly. “There, their, and they’re” used incorrectly. And so on. It’s not that difficult people.
F) People who anonymously post rude and/or hateful comments. If you’re going to be insensitive, at least own up to it. I’m going to use the delete button either way.
G) People who demand, whine, beg, plead for more on a story that is listed as a one-shot. If I want to write more, I will. I’m not going to write more just because you whine at me. In fact, you whining at me is more likely to make me NOT write more.I’m sure I could go on and on and on…but that would just make me sound bitchy and cranky and bitter. I’m not even sure if these are my top pet peeves but they hit the top annoyances.
