Fun and Annoyance

So yesterday eaglesis40  and I took a trip down to visit with ctrokj who had traveled about halfway up towards my place. The three of us went out to eat, visited, and had a loverly time visiting and chatting. We had gone down later in the evening since we all had commitments early in the day so it was later at night that we got on the road.

And this is where the annoyance kicks in. On the way up the turnpike heading home, eaglesis40 was driving because I was tired, my knee was aching and I was just having enough of an issue that driving was not a good idea for me. We were traveling in the truck lanes (those of you unfamiliar with the NJTP there is a split in Central Jersey where there are two sets of lanes with one section for cars only...one for trucks). We decided since there weren't a lot of trucks, we'd take the outside lanes.

We're in the fast lane--doing about 72-75 and passing a car when suddenly this vehicle comes right up behind us and starts flashing his high beams. Now eagles is an EMT (for those of you who don't know) and much less temparmental than I am, but still...we are related. So she slows down. The guy can now not get around on either side cause we're traveling side by side with the other car. This goes on for about half a mile...his flashing his beams and us traveling along...and me bitching that he's an asshole.

Finally we have no choice but to pass the guy next to us (he's just traveling too slowly) and the guy zips around, into the right lane, and zooms past us. At this point, I (in the passenger seat) can see two things:

1) he's driving a fucking ODDESSY (a mini-van, people!)

and

2) all over the back (well okay there were two, maybe three) are "Semper Fi" "US Marines!" "I'm a US Marine!"

My comment was guys like these are the type that give Marines a bad name!

I know some very nice Marines...but guys like that are the type that give Marines the term Jarhead and give them a bad name...I was annoyed for the rest of the trip back. Especially for the Marines I know.

Mini-Nano Preview

So most of y'all know that I'm going to start mini_nanowrimo next week. And I'm starting to gear up to get ready for it...in preparation I am already trying to make time each day to write...and so I am going to keep track of my word count each day and post it on here. (And I'll change the date on this post each day).

So I've committed to 150 words each day for the month of November. I'll be posting my own count here on my journal and also posting in the daily posts on the site.
