Fleet Week is an annual event in NYC where the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard get to visit the city. They tour and also do demonstrations for people. Its a lot of fun because you can visit with current military people and thank them for their services. Plus you can see the ships that are in active service. Its been expanded now to other cities. Anyway there's a link in the author's note to information about Fleet Week plus the Intrepid which is a former Navy ship that's docked on the Hudson.
