the meme I posted the other day. I've been answering the characters that have been given to me...and have hit some of my major characters...but I've still got some left. Just thought I'd re-post the answers so that you could see them all in one place...if you still want to prompt me for a character...I've also crossed out the ones I've done...so pick someone left and I'll work on it soon.

Answers to the Meme:

1. Eliot Spencer

a.The first illegal thing Eliot ever did was forge his momma's name on the paperwork to join the Army. It wasn't that things were bad at home, he'd just had enough of a small, Southern town and he knew he'd never make enough money working in the stables to give Aimee the life he wanted to. So he'd forged Momma's name the day after his seventeenth birthday (and two days after graduation) and left for the Army a week later.

b.He'd given Aimee the promise ring and he'd fully intended to follow through on the implied promise--but he was never sure what he would have done if she hadn't left him. He would have always been restless--would not have been the type to settle down, but he would have and could have did it. To this day he convinced himself that he loved Aimee that he could have stuffed down that side of him that needed to be on the move constantly and been happy. But he'll never know.

c.Just because he doesn't like guns, doesn't mean he doesn't know how to use them. He doesn't like how impersonal they are; how you can forget that a life is bleeding out on the other end of the barrel. If he's going to take a life, he'd prefer to be face to face with his victim. That said, he'd rather not take a life unless he has to. He'll knock them out and leave them behind if he can. He'll only use death as a last resort.

d.Eliot didn't become a retrieval specialist for the money or the glory or the fame. He became one because he was very, very good at what he did. And the longer he stayed alive--the better he became.

2. Colby Granger

a.Colby whines and complains when Jo calls him Burn but secretly he loves it. It means so many things to him--its home and childhood and Saturday morning cartoons. It means more to him than he can ever explain that after everything she still sees him as her hero. He knows he's done things that he's not proud of--but to Jo, he's still the same boy who rescued her from bullies and carried her on his shoulders.

b.He sometimes thinks his future was written out from the moment of his birth. JROTC, then ROTC, then the Army--it was only when he was injured and he wouldn't be able to continue in active duty that he truly felt he was able to make a decision. He chose the FBI not because he wanted to continue the adrenaline rush, but because he truly thought it would be a good fit. He's never had reason to regret it.

c.He agreed to try to trap Dwayne because he didn't really think they'd take it that far (it hadn't all been duty and honor--although a lot of it had been). He thought his team would back him--boy was he surprised when he ended up in jail without their support. The only thing more shocking had been walking into the visitors' room and coming face to face with Jo. To this day he wanted to kick her ass for putting herself in danger like that.

3. Christian Kane

a. One of the reasons Chris played the field so much before Royal was that he didn't feel any woman could truly understand what music meant to him. He didn't think that any woman would be able to accept that his music came before just about everything. Royal doesn't ask to come before the music though; she asks to share his affections with it. In a way that means more to him than anything. The music is part of what brought them together and he finds himself not only playing for her at shows, but playing to her at home and just fooling around when the mood strikes. The music is a bond that draws them closer together rather than coming between them.

b. Chris has done a lot of stupid things over the years. Luckily he and his friends have been drunk enough to forget most of them. Unluckily there is video evidence of some of the stupid things he's done. Including that time with the mechanical bull....

c. Chris isn't sure which he likes more--having Royal accompany him on tour or having her waiting when he gets home. He didn't realize until he had those options how much he loved having them. Being able to come off stage and curl around her after singing and flirting; knowing that she was there in the audience or back stage was so much better than the hoards of girls he had had before. But coming home from a tour to find her sleepily waiting up or naked and sleeping in his bed, that was just as good. Even before she had moved in with him, he almost always found her in his bed when he returned from a tour. He didn't realize how much he needed and wanted that until he had her.

4. Steve Carlson

a. Music is the way Steve chose to live his life a long time ago. Music allows him to express himself even when he can't find the words to speak his mind out loud. From an early age music helped him find his mood, his center, and let him get his feelings out. He's used it to comfort himself, to work out stress and emotion and even to show the world that he's healed and moved on. His life without music would be a black and white place that he could not survive.

b. Chris Kane is Steve's best friend. Yeah, sometimes he still had to shake his head at that one too. He wasn't sure how it happened exactly--except that one too many nights drinking and talking music had ended up with them trying to play together and finding that they sounded pretty damn good together. From there they had just spent more and more time together until it seemed like they were hanging out for more than just music. Steve had to admit once he got to know Chris that the other man was more than just a dumb redneck and he enjoyed spending time with him. Once they started writing together, he was amazed at how much they actually had in common musically.

c. Steve didn't do many things that he regretted. Even drunk he tended to keep himself from doing dumbass things. The night he spent with Sarah Borne wasn't necessarily something he regretted, but he did regret how uncomfortable it made them around each other for the next few weeks. He had already agreed to play at Randy's before they slept together so it wasn't like he could avoid the place, but it made it a little awkward despite the agreement that it wouldn't happen again. It was almost tripping over each other backstage one night that made them realize they were being silly. They could be friends that had had drunken sex one night and still manage to be civil to each other. The next week, Sarah had grabbed Steve when he sat down at the bar after his set and kissed him. When she pulled back, they both cracked up. From that moment, they had been much easier with each other and the awkwardness was gone.
