Author's Note: I was purchased by squidgiepdx for Neevebrody Fandom Forward Auction to support Neevebrody and the purchase of a new laptop for her. The prompt was a little complicated—too complicated for my normal one line explanation, but essentially what was requested was a crossover of Oliver going to Hawaii and running into some trouble. Hopefully this fulfills your wishes.

Oliver stopped short as he entered the underground sanctuary that he used as a base for all of his night time adventures. Despite all of the people in the room knowing about his alter-ego, he didn’t actually expect them to all be there at once. Although it wasn’t unusual for Diggle and Felicity to be there, Tommy rarely ventured downstairs. “Do I want to ask what’s going on?” he questioned.

“This is your intervention,” Felicity blurted out.

“My what?” Oliver replied, looking from one to the other of his friends. “I don’t need an intervention. I’m fine. I’m not on drugs.”

“Well, I see that Thea’s requests for pop culture updates have sunk in,” Tommy commented.

“It’s not that kind of intervention, Oliver,” Diggle broke in. “We’re, well most of us, your friends. We’re concerned about you. That you’re going to burn out with this vendetta.”

“I’m fine,” Oliver stressed. “I don’t need your concern. Not that type of concern anyway. Now if you want to get me information, that concern I could use.”

“Well, I did finish running that program,” Felicity started.

“Felicity,” Tommy and Diggle snapped at her.

“What he asked for…” she replied with wide eyes.

“Stick to the plan,” Tommy told her.

“Oh, right, the plan.” She glared at Oliver, although it wasn’t much of a deterrent. “This is an intervention. You need a break.”

“I had five years of a break when I was on the island. I have a mission, a plan. I made a promise. I don’t have time for a break,” Oliver argued.

“See that’s where you’re wrong,” Tommy said. “I don’t mean a month or two, but there’s no reason you can’t take a weekend or a few days. And I’m talking about sun, sand, beautiful women in bikinis if that.” He saw the look Felicity was giving him. “What? Some of us appreciate the finer things in life.”

“I’m. Not. Interested,” Oliver growled.

“We really weren’t discussing whether or not you were interested,” Tommy told him. “The arrangements have been made and we’re going to Hawaii.”

“Who’s we?” Oliver asked stubbornly.

“You, me, and well because your mother is going to insist on it, Mr. Diggle,” Tommy said. “So Mr. Diggle and I figured we’d just do a run around your mother and just include him from the start.”

Oliver looked from one to the other. “Fine. Seventy-two hours. And we’re back. I’m not leaving the city for longer.”

“Well pack up and let’s get going!” Tommy said. “No time to waste.”

Danny glared at the scant information they had on the drug cartel they’d been chasing for the past three days. “How is it that after three days, we have nothing?” he demanded. “I mean even Kamekona hasn’t given us anything!”

“We’ve been spoiled, brah,” Kono replied, even as Chin kept shifting through the data they had. “I mean we have located some of the bit players.”

“But the bit players won’t help us,” Steve pointed out.

“Really? You’re actually thinking about that?” Danny questioned. “You aren’t looking to drag in whoever you can and dangle them off the roof of a building?”

“That was one time, Danny. You gotta let it go,” Steve protested. “And rounding up the bit players really won’t help us. We need the big fish.”

Danny looked at the cousins, who exchanged shrugs. “So do you have a plan?” he asked reluctantly.

Diggle opened the door to the hotel suite, escorting the two former playboys into room. “I’m assuming I’m not going to have to remind you not to escape me?” Diggle asked as the two strolled around the suite. A bellhop followed them in and he directed the young man to leave the bags by the couch.

“We’re on an island, Dig,” Oliver replied. “Where would I go?”

“With you I never know,” Diggle replied.

“So,” Tommy said, almost rubbing his hands together in his exuberance as he rejoined the other two men in the main room. “Since we’re not ditching the bodyguard. What are we doing first? The beach? A club? Dinner out at a prestigious restaurant? Come on, Ollie, we’re on va-ca-tion.”

“Tommy, I already told you. Told all of you. That I don’t need this. I don’t need a break,” Oliver protested.

“Dinner it is then,” Tommy decided.

“How do you get dinner out of that?” Oliver questioned as Tommy grabbed his jacket and tossed one to Oliver.

“I don’t. But I’m hungry.” He shrugged. “So we’re going to eat.”

Tommy tossed out ideas for places to eat as they headed down to the lobby and they finally decided on the Hilton, heading there at a stroll. Surprisingly the restaurant wasn’t that busy and they didn’t have a long wait, settling into a tucked away table on the patio. Tommy considered protesting that they didn’t have a view of the beach, but Oliver’s eyes were flittering over the other patrons and Tommy decided not to push the issue.

“Tommy,” Oliver said slowly as the group got up from their dinner. “I need you to head back to the hotel. “Dig, please escort him.”

Diggle’s eyes flicked in the direction that Oliver was looking; trying to see what had caught his attention. “Problem, Oliver?” he questioned.

“Possibly,” Oliver replied. “Might just be me being paranoid. But I think.” He frowned. “Nope. That’s definitely not good news. Dig, I need you to get Tommy out of here.”

“Oliver,” Diggle started.

“Don’t argue with me, Diggle,” Oliver growled. “Just go. I trust you to keep him safe.”

Diggle glared at Oliver for a minute, but finally jerked his head at Tommy, motioning for him to lead the way away from the patio. Oliver waited until they were headed back towards the hotel, then slipped through the bushes and trees at the edge of the patio (so different from what he knew at home, but more than adequate as shelter) to follow the men that had caught his attention.

He was halfway down the street; keeping to the shadows so the men didn’t pick up that he was trailing them, when he realized that someone else was tailing the group. Glancing around quickly, he realized that neither group had noticed him and it was probably in his best interest to keep it that way.

Grabbing the bottom of a nearby fire escape, he hoisted himself up and onto it, wanting to get a look at the second group from a higher vantage. He was already cursing not having his bow or comms so that he could do some real damage. He had faith in his abilities, but not unarmed against two groups.

A flash of gold from one of the second group had Oliver slowing and he swore quietly as he realized the second group was made up of cops. There was no way this was going to end well, but he wouldn’t, he couldn’t let Dustin Dupree escape.

Although one of the minor names on his father’s list, he knew that allowing the man the freedom to return to Starling City would never sit well with him. He just needed to figure out a way to draw Dupree away from his guards and the two cops.

For a few minutes, he tracked the two groups without engaging, studying them. Dupree was surrounded by four toughs, but nothing Oliver wasn’t confident he couldn’t handle. He wasn’t concerned about them; had no issues with what happened to them. The two cops on the other hand, he wasn’t interested in hurting them, but he would knock them out if they got in the way.

There was no way the blonde was a native Hawaiian. If the slacks and shirt didn’t give it away, his broad gestures and way of speaking clearly did. The dark haired man on the other hand was obviously from the Islands and more able to blend in. It didn’t stop the two from following Dupree easily though and from clearly being at the top of their game.

“But who are you?” Oliver whispered.

He itched for the knowledge he’d gotten used to having at his fingertips, entirely too used to having Felicity and Diggle in his ear when he was chasing after someone now. But he didn’t have them and he needed to do this one on his own.

Dupree was just rounding a corner and Oliver knew if he timed it right, the man and his toughs would be out of sight for a few minutes. It might be just enough time for him to take the man out. Grabbing the railing of the fire escape he was on, he boosted himself up and over before throwing himself to the next building and scrambling up it.

Twisting Oliver looked over his shoulder to gage where Dupree and his men were. Pushing off the building, he landed in the midst of the men, lashing out at the bodyguard close enough. His blow hit the man’s knee, driving him instantly to the ground as he cried out in pain. Spinning around, Oliver punched another man in the solar plexus.

The other two men eyed Oliver warily for a moment causing Dupree to yell, “Get him!”

The second man Oliver had punched had recovered enough to attempt to grab him but Oliver ducked, allowing him to toss the man over his shoulders and into one of the other men. Both of them tumbled down, rolling into the street, and just missing the cars that were passing by. Oliver used the time while they were recovering to quickly knock the last man out.

Oliver advanced on Dupree, who scrambled away from him, holding his hands up in surrender. “I don’t want no trouble,” he babbled.

“Dustin Dupree,” Oliver started before realizing he wasn’t hooded. Striking out, he knocked the man unconscious.

He turned to address the thugs, who’d picked themselves up, as the two cops came around the corner. “Hey!” the blonde yelled. “Five-O!”

Oliver glanced at them, before grabbing the closest out-jut on the building, and hauling himself upwards. “Hey!” the man yelled again. “Stop! Stop! Five-O!”

Ignoring the order, Oliver scrambled higher, trusting that the innate nature of the cops would hold their fire. He didn’t know these cops (and Starling City cops did have a habit of shooting at him), but he wasn’t dressed as the Hood tonight and he had to believe that they wouldn’t shoot at him.

“What the hell was that?” Danny demanded as he and Chin watched the man disappear across the rooftops.

“If I knew, I’d tell you,” Chin told him.

“Well, at least he left Dupree wrapped up for us,” Danny commented.

“I’ll call for transport while you start cuffing them.”

“At least you didn’t say ‘book ‘em, Danno’,” Danny muttered as he reached down to roll Dupree over. “Hey,” he called to one of the thugs who’d started to stir. “Don’t even think about it.”

“I’ve got the images from the street cams,” Kono said as Danny and Chin walked into HQ.

Danny and Chin crossed over to where she was standing and began to help her attempt to isolate the man who’d taken down Dupree.

“Do we have any idea who this guy is?” Steve asked as he came out of his office.

“Other than almost better than you at the crazy beat people up with bare hands stuff?” Danny asked. “No.”

Steve glared at him for a minute before motioning to the cousins. “Do we have a clear enough picture for facial recognition?”

“No,” Kono sighed. “Not a single one.”

“Not a single one, no,” Chin agreed. He nudged his cousin out of the way and began grabbing sections and corners and pieces of frames. “But I might be able to piece together something.”

“Okay. You.” Steve pointed to the computer. “See what you can come up with from all that. Danny and I are going to talk to Dupree.”

“Right,” Danny agreed. “Wait. We are?”

“Yes, Danny, come on.”

“I am not a dog,” Danny protested, even as he followed Steve from the main room.

Oliver straightened his jacket as he strolled as calmly as he could through the lobby of the hotel where they were staying. His main goal was not to draw any attention to himself or the slight rips and scuffs in his clothes. He made it to the elevator without comment, but noticed that it would be more than a few minutes before a car got to the lobby. Out of habit, he’d noted where the stairs were and he quickly made his way to them, hurrying up them.

Tommy and Diggle both looked up as he entered their suite, shutting the door tightly behind him. “Well, you’re in one piece,” Diggle commented.

Shucking off his jacket, Oliver indicated a rip on the side. “Well, nothing my tailor can’t fix anyway.”

“What happened?” Tommy asked.

“I spotted Dustin Dupree at the restaurant,” Oliver answered, as he headed towards his room. “I just wanted to have a little conversation with him, but I forgot I’m on vacation. And I ran into some natives.” He continued to talk as he pulled off his scuffed clothes, “You ever heard of something called Five-0?”

“Elite task force set up by former governor Jameson to clean up the Islands. She gave them immunity and means to do their jobs though the current governor isn’t quite as forgiving. Led by a former Navy SEAL,” Diggle rattled off. He was frowning when Oliver re-entered the main room. “Please tell me you didn’t piss off Five-O.”

“Piss off? Not exactly. I told you, I just had a bit of a…” Oliver trailed off as a loud knock sounded. “Did anyone order room service?”

“So is Chin absolutely sure his piecemeal picture is correct?” Danny asked as Steve pounded on the door again.

“You’re doubting Chin Ho Kelly?” Steve asked as the door swung open to reveal a large black man that could give Steve a run for his money size wise. “We’re looking for Oliver Queen,” Steve said, barely glancing at the man.

Danny rolled his eyes at Steve steamrolling over everything like usual and corrected, “What my partner is trying to say is we’d like to speak to Mr. Queen if he’s available. We have some questions about where he was earlier tonight.”

“Let them in, Diggle,” a voice called from inside the suite. “We should co-operate with our friends in law enforcement.”

“Thank you for the courtesy, Mr. Queen,” Danny said as they stepped past Diggle into the suite. “We’ll try not to take too much of your time.”

“We’re on vacation, Officer, we don’t have anything other than time,” the dark haired man answered. “Drink?”

“No thanks, we’re on duty,” Steve replied. “You are?”

He grinned in response. “Tommy Merlyn. Oliver’s best friend. Who are you?”

“Commander Steve McGarrett. This is Detective Danny Williams,” Steve answered.

“And where is Mr. Queen?” Danny asked, looking around the main room. “Didn’t he invite us in?”

“I did,” a third man answered as he entered from one of the bedrooms, slipping a cell phone back into his pocket. “Sorry. My sister called as you were entering. I try not to make her worry.”

“That’s sweet that you have a good relationship with your sister,” Danny said. “Family should be important.”

“Yeah, well, after she thought I was dead and had abandoned her, we’re trying,” Oliver answered. “But you didn’t come to ask questions about my sister. What can I do for you gentlemen?”

“If you don’t mind, where were you this evening?” Danny asked.

“Of course not,” Oliver answered. “Tommy, Diggle, and I went to dinner at the Hilton. Then Diggle escorted Tommy back here and I went for a walk.”

“Alone?” Steve asked.

“Unfortunately,” Diggle grumbled. “Mr. Queen… doesn’t have a high regard for his safety.”

“Excuse me?” Danny questioned.

Oliver let a grin flit across his face. “Diggle’s my bodyguard. My mother hired him when I returned home after being… lost. I’ve become better at not just escaping him. Now we make arrangements.”

“Arrangements like allowing you to commit assault on a drug dealer?” Steve asked.

“I’m sorry?” Oliver said. “Did you say assault?”

“Oliver, maybe you should call your lawyer before they ask any more questions,” Tommy suggested.

“Why? I don’t have anything to hide,” Oliver replied.

“So you’ll admit this is you?” Danny asked, as Steve showed Oliver a picture on his smart phone.

Oliver glanced at the phone, glad to see it wasn’t a clear picture. He had been moving too quickly and with the darkness and the camera angles off, they hadn’t been able to get a full shot of his face. “I’ll admit it resembles me, but you can’t prove it’s me. And I’ll admit I was at the Hilton and I saw a man who resembled someone the police are looking for back home, but I went for a walk, I came back here, my sister called, and then you showed up. I’m sorry I can’t be more help. Although I am confused how you got my name.”

“We ran facial rec on the picture we got from the security cameras that captured your fight,” Steve explained. “And we have two Five-O members that witnessed you fleeing the scene.”

Oliver raised his eyebrows at that. “If your team members had actually seen me I somehow doubt we’d be having this conversation in my hotel room. Now. How did you get my name?”

“You are a well-known figure, Mr. Queen,” Danny pointed out.

“So it’s not racial profiling, its bank account profiling?” Oliver wanted to know.

“Of course not,” Danny hastened to explain. “As we stated, facial rec identified you.”

“And we know how reliable that is,” Tommy commented. “Look if you have no proof it was Oliver…”

“We’re going to ask you to leave,” Diggle finished.

“I would think that’s up to Mr. Queen,” Steve said.

“Oh, I definitely agree with them. Have a good day, gentlemen,” Oliver answered.

“Fine, but don’t leave town for now,” Danny fired as a parting shot as the two Five-O members left the suite.

Diggle turned to Oliver as soon as the door closed behind them. “You were seen?” he asked.

“I didn’t think so but apparently they have someone almost as good as Felicity with computers.” Oliver dug his phone out of his pocket. “I’m going to call her. See if she can get rid of the pictures and blur my face on the security tapes.”

“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Tommy asked as Oliver dialed.

“Do I have another choice?” Oliver asked. “Hey, Felicity. I need a favor. I ran into a little trouble here.”

“Oliver, you’re in Hawaii. How do you run into trouble in Hawaii?” the IT genius said. “I mean weren’t Diggle and Tommy with you? Everyone’s okay, right? Nothing happened to anyone, did they?”

“We’re fine. No damage, except for the fact that Five-O is attempting to arrest me,” Oliver answered.

“What?!” Felicity screeched. “And you call that okay?!”

“Well, no physical damage,” Oliver said. “But I’ll explain the whole thing later. I need you to break into Five-O’s computers and the city cameras.”

“Yes of course. Wait. What?”

“Five-O has a picture that they claim is me. I need it gone. Wiped out completely. And blur any pictures still on the city databases,” Oliver explained. “Since it’ll look suspicious if they disappear. Just make sure they can’t be fixed.”

Is the picture you?” Felicity asked.

“Are you asking me to incriminate myself?” Oliver asked in reply.

“I would never do that,” she replied. “I’ll get back to you when I’m done.”

“Just call me if you can’t do it,” Oliver said. “I’d rather not have too much contact.” He hung up and looked at the other two in the room. “Wasn’t the plan to have a vacation?”

“So what was your read on that guy?” Danny asked as he and Steve pulled away from the hotel.

“He wasn’t very concerned about being questioned by the police,” Steve commented.

“Who’s calm like that?” Danny asked. “Even you, Mr. I Was Trained by the Government aren’t calm like that. It was like he knew that if we had something on him, we would be taking him in.”

“Well, we don’t really have anything on him,” Steve pointed out. “You didn’t get a look at him, did you?”

Danny shook his head. “A glimpse that was it. And not enough to give even a cursory eyewitness report. Those pictures Chin put together were better than what I saw.”

“So you can’t swear that was him?”

“Not in the least,” Danny said.

“Then we need to find something other than those pictures.”

When Steve and Danny returned to Five-O HQ it was to find Chin and Kono frowning over the computers. “What’s going on?” Steve asked as they stopped by the table.

“Did you get anything out of Queen?” Chin asked.

“Not really. He was eerily calm about the whole thing. And he didn’t actually answer any of the questions, he admitted he was at the Hilton, but denied being at the scene of the assault,” Danny said.

“So we need to take the pictures and…” Steve stopped as Chin shook his head. “No?”

“They’re gone,” Chin said.

“What do you mean gone?” Steve asked in a low voice.

“We went to pull the files back up, to see if we can clean them up a bit more, maybe get a better angle or better image, and they were gone. I went back to the original files and everything is corrupted. There’s no way for me to clean it up. The files are too badly damaged. It’s almost like a virus got into the system and damaged it. And it’s not just those files; there are some others that are damaged, too.” Chin pulled some other files up and threw them onto the main screen. “On the other hand, everything we could want to put Dupree in jail for the next thirty years? We’ve got that.”

“Is it legal?” Danny asked.

Chin was still scrolling through the files, every so often throwing more information up onto the main screen. “Legal enough that we can use it. Anonymous source and all that. I mean we have no way to know where the information came from. But there’s nothing that says we can’t use it, provided we can corroborate it.”

“There’s no way to back-trace it?” Steve questioned.

“None. Whoever did this?” Chin frowned. “He or she is good.”

“So what are we going to do about Oliver Queen?” Danny asked.

“We’ve got nothing?” Steve confirmed.

“We’ve got plenty on Dupree, but nothing on Queen,” Chin answered.

“Should we see if he trips himself up?” Danny suggested.

“I don’t think this guy is going to,” Steve commented. “He was too cool, too calm.” He stared at the information on Dupree that Chin had put on the main monitor. “As much as I hate to say it, I think we’re going to have to let this one go. Put a flag on him so we know when he leaves. And let’s keep an eye on him for if he returns. I want to know if we’re going to have trouble with him again.”

“Sure, boss,” Chin said, motioning for Kono to help him with the proper files.

“That’s it?” Danny asked.

“What else do you want me to do, Danny? Escort him off the Island?” Steve questioned. “Dupree isn’t going to press charges and we no longer have proof. If anything he did us a favor.”

“Thank you very much,” Oliver said before hanging up the phone. “Well, I’m free to go,” he commented to Tommy and Diggle.

“They decided you aren’t dangerous?” Tommy asked.

“Oh, I don’t know about that,” Oliver replied, “but apparently the pictures they had disappeared at the same time some very incriminating files on Dupree appeared. Since they have no evidence on me, they have no reason to delay my departure. I get the feeling Five-O would rather I leave sooner than later.”

“Shall I make the arrangements then?” Diggle asked.

“Yes. I think I’ve had enough of my vacation,” Oliver said. “And then next time you all stage an intervention? Please. Have another thought. If I’m going to clean up a city, I’d rather clean up my city.”
