Author's Note: So nienna87 and maiel_alcinoe and I were talking about Jeremy being overtired and needing something to snuggle with after Scarlett mentioned the absolutely insane press junket they had for Avengers (seriously it was something like 10 countries in 12 days or something) and then this happened…I have no excuse. I really don’t. Thanks to illfindmyway for looking at this and throwing titles at me until one of them stuck.

Jeremy leaned his head back against the seat as Scarlett slid into the seat of the town car beside him. He was glad to be back in LA, even if his body wasn’t sure what time zone he was in anymore, and his brain didn’t know what country. “Drop Scarlett off first,” he instructed the driver before allowing his eyes to drift closed again.

“Thanks,” she said. The two friends were silent for a few minutes as the car smoothly maneuvered out of the airport, their bodies relaxing into the comfort of the seats and listing towards each other as they drifted. Suddenly Scarlett bolted upright. “Crap!”

Jeremy jerked at her exclamation, sitting up and blinking his grey eyes. “What?”

“I can’t go home,” she explained. “They were working on my place and the work got delayed. My place is a wreck.”

“So come to my place,” Jeremy offered. “I’ve got plenty of room and you can get some sleep. I’ve got a guest room you can stay in…” He leaned back against the seat and then jerked upright again as he realized something. “Except I’ve got no beds.”

“How do you have guest rooms with no beds?” she asked.

Jeremy waved a hand. “It didn’t seem like a high priority. I’ve got a bed. And a couch.” He sighed, running a tired hand through his hair. “Take the bed. I’ll take the couch.”

“That’s not fair to you,” she protested. “You’re just as tired as I am. And it’s your bed.”

“Look it’s a big bed. And we’re both adults. I think we can manage to sleep without any awkwardness. Especially after the last few weeks.”

“I can’t put you out like that. I’ll go to a hotel.”

“Scarlett, you don’t want the hassle of dealing with a hotel now. Come on, in the time you’re arguing with me and checking into the hotel, you could be asleep.”

“I’m too tired to think of a good argument,” she told him.

“Oh thank god,” he said, dropping his head back against the seat. “I was hoping you’d just give in.”

“You’d better not be trying to get me into bed, Renner,” she joked.

“No, I’d wait until I was actually going to be conscious for more than five seconds if that was my plan,” he answered. “But sometimes it’s nice not to sleep alone.”

She reached out, squeezing his hand where it lay on the seat between them. “Yeah. I know.”

It took Jeremy a couple of tries to get the key into the door, but he finally got it open, letting them both into the house. Scarlett had been to his house often enough when the cast hung out together, but she’d never been anywhere near his bedroom. Now she followed him up the stairs, both of them lugging their bags.

“I don’t think I have anything clean to wear to bed,” Scarlett commented as she followed him into the bedroom.

“I’m too tired to give that comment the response it deserves.” Jeremy rested his head against the wall for a minute. “I think I have something you can borrow. A shirt at least.” He dropped his bag and made his way to the dresser, digging around until he found a shirt and a pair of shorts, holding them out to her. “Bathroom’s through there if you need it.”

“Because you haven’t seen pretty much everything,” she pointed out, even as she followed his directions.

“I’m trying to be a gentleman!” he yelled after her.

By the time Scarlett returned, he’d changed into a pair of running shorts and a t-shirt of his own. “Get settled,” he told her. “I’m gonna run down and flip on the A/C. Just to try to clean out some of the dank air. Don’t worry if you fall asleep before I get back.”

“Is there a side you prefer?” she asked.

“Nah, its fine. Five minutes and I’ll be back.” He started to head out and then turned back to see Scarlett lifting the comforter and turning back the blankets. “Oh. I probably have coffee, but nothing edible, so if you want breakfast we’ll have to go out in the morning.”

“You really know how to treat a girl, Renner,” she commented.

“Hey, it’s not like I’ve been home much,” he responded. “And I did offer you the bed to yourself.”

Scarlett pitched a pillow at him, which he dodged even though it fell far short, laughing as he left the room. “Get out. Go do what you need,” she told him.

When he returned, Scarlett’s eyes were closed and she was breathing easily. Jeremy slipped into bed beside her, trying not to disturb her in case she was already asleep. For a few minutes, he lay rigid at her side, unable to get comfortable as he tried not to jostle her.

“Seriously, Jeremy?” she asked after a minute. “You can breathe. I have slept with other people before.”

“Would that be a girl? Cause that’s…”

“Say it’s hot and I will hit you and it will hurt,” she threatened.

“I think you’re taking your work home with you.”

“Go to sleep, Jeremy.”

He wiggled around for a minute, before tentatively slipping an arm around her waist. “Can I…? Do you mind…?” he questioned.

“I never pegged you for tentative. Or a snuggler,” she replied.

“Girls like guys who cuddle,” he said as seriously as he could manage.

She giggled at that, before realizing there was a slightly hysterical edge to it. “God, I am so tired,” she sighed.

He stroked a hand down her back, smiling as she relaxed against him. “Want me to sing to you?”

“Really? Would you?” She tilted her head up, but couldn’t see him in the dark of the room.

“Can’t promise I won’t fall asleep in the middle of a verse, but…” He maneuvered her around until her head was resting on his chest; his arm around her as he held her against him. It took him a minute, but then he began humming and picked up the words after a few bars. Before he reached the second verse they were both sound asleep.

And we're going to see Avengers again in a few minutes!
